Low Slope Roofing

Single Ply roofing systems:

TPO Membrane Roofing

The TPO membrane is made out of Thermoplastic Poly Olefin and is the most widely used membrane roofing system in California. It is very cost effective and is available in various thicknesses (45, 60, & 80 mil thicknesses).  It comes in three stock colors, White, Tan, and gray but can be produced in a custom color for a specific job. TPO is much more energy efficient than standard built up roof systems and can reduce the amount of heating and cooling required in the building. There are multiple attachment methods than can be used when installing a TPO roof system including mechanically attached with plates and screws, fully adhered with bonding adhesive and ballasted with river rock or other architectural stone. Warranties of 10, 20 and 30 years are available from the manufactures.

PVC Membrane Roofing

The PVC membrane is made out of Polyvinyl Chloride and is widely used in the California market. Built Up Roofing

Built up roof membranes, referred to by the acronym BUR, have been in use in the U.S. for more than 100 years. These roof systems are commonly referred to as "tar and gravel" roofs. Built-up roofing systems are constructed with the multiple layers of bitumen and bitumen saturated "felts".  The multiple layers create a water-resistant barrier capable of providing many years of reliable protection from the elements.  Built up roofs have had a long-standing popularity in the California roofing market but in recent times have been surpassed by single ply roofing systems as the most popular roof systems to install.

Built-up roofs can be installed using hot, cold, or torch down products and methodologies. Surfacing’s for built up roof systems include aggregate (such as gravel, slag or mineral granules), glass-fiber or mineral surfaced cap sheets, hot asphalt mopped over the entire surface, aluminum coatings or elastomeric coatings.

Built-up roofing systems are tested through Underwriters Laboratories and FM Approvals to meet very strict fire resistance requirements and ensure adequate uplift resistance under extreme wind conditions.
